Qualifications:
To qualify for the GSIS STEM Scholarship Program, both the GSIS member-applicant and the child nominee must meet the requirements set by GSIS. The scholarship is intended for qualified dependents of active GSIS members and certain pensioners who plan to take an eligible STEM degree in college.
Eligibility Requirements of the GSIS Member
- Must be a regular active GSIS member with permanent employment status
- Must have Salary Grade 15 and below, or equivalent job grade
- Must have updated GSIS premium payments
- May apply for only one (1) child for the duration of the program
For Permanent Total Disability (PTD) Pensioners
- A PTD pensioner who is below 60 years old during the application period may also apply for their child
- The basic monthly pension may be used as basis for the selection process
Qualifications of the Child Applicant
- Must be the child of a qualified GSIS member or eligible PTD pensioner
- Must be an incoming first-year college freshman
- Must be accepted in a 4-year or 5-year GSIS-identified STEM bachelor’s degree program
- Must be enrolled in a CHED-registered school
- Must have a Senior High School General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 90%
- Must have no failing grade in Senior High School
Priority Applicants
Priority may be given to applicants from the following sectors:
- Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
- Indigenous Peoples (IPs)
- Solo Parents (SPs)
Requirements:
Students who want to apply for the GSIS STEM Scholarship Program must submit the accomplished application form together with the required documents. Make sure that all documents are complete and clear before submission.
Required Documents
- Accomplished GSIS application form
- Original or certified true copy of PSA-issued Birth Certificate of the child applicant
- Original or certified true copy of Certificate of Employment or Service Record of the GSIS member, or disability claim approval for PTD pensioners
- Certification from the college or university that the child is accepted, enrolled, or currently taking the course, including:
- name of course
- duration of the course
- year level of the student
- Original or certified true copy of Senior High School report card
- must show a GWA of at least 90%
- must show no failing grade
Additional Documents for Special Sectors (if applicable)
For PWD, IP, or Solo Parent applicants, submit the applicable supporting document:
- PWD child
- endorsement from the head of agency/office or designated official
- valid PWD ID from the City/Municipality Persons with Disability Affairs Office or National Council on Disability Affairs
- IP child
- Certificate of Confirmation of Tribal Membership from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples
- Solo Parent child
- valid Solo Parent ID from the Local Social Welfare Development Office

Benefits:
The GSIS STEM Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to qualified students taking eligible STEM degree programs. Selected scholars will receive yearly support to help cover their educational expenses.

Additional Incentives for Latin Honor Graduates
GSIS grantees who graduate with Latin honors may also receive the following incentives:

- Cum Laude – ₱20,000
Retention Requirement
To continue receiving the scholarship, the grantee must maintain a college GWA of at least 85%.
Priority Courses:
The GSIS STEM Scholarship Program is intended for students who plan to pursue college studies in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Applicants should make sure that their chosen course falls under one of the eligible areas supported by the scholarship.

About GSIS STEM Scholarship Program:
The GSIS STEM Scholarship Program (GSSP) is a government educational assistance program that will support 1,000 incoming college freshmen every year who plan to take Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses.
