The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is the governing body covering both public and private higher education institutions in the Philippines.

Established on May 18, 1994, through Republic Act No. 7722, CHED is responsible for promoting relevant and quality higher education, ensuring access to quality education for all, and guaranteeing and protecting academic freedom for continuing intellectual growth, advancement of learning and research, development of responsible and effective leadership, education of high-level professionals, and enrichment of historical and cultural heritages.

Qualifications

To qualify for CHED scholarship program, you generally need to:

  • Maintain the minimum grade average required by the specific scholarship.
  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll in priority programs at approved higher education institutions.
  • Show financial need if the scholarship requires it.
  • Provide a certificate of good moral character from your last school.

Listed below are General Requirements if you have any plans to apply for one of CHED’s Scholarship programs.

You typically need to submit:

  • A completed application form (available on the CHED website or from CHED offices).
  • A certified true copy of your latest report card or transcript.
  • A certified true copy of your birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
  • Proof of income (latest Income Tax Return (ITR), Certificate of Tax Exemption, or Certificate of Indigency).
  • A certificate of good moral character from your last school.
  • Recent 2×2 ID photos.

CHED Merit Scholarship Program

The CHED Scholarship Programs (CSPs) are designed for high-achieving first-year college students who have a minimum grade average. These students must enroll in recognized priority programs at private HEIs, SUCs, or accredited LUCs. The type of scholarship awarded depends on ranking and the availability of slots.

CHED Tulong Dunong Program (TDP)

The Tulong Dunong Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to college students who are academically capable but face financial difficulties. This scholarship helps cover expenses such as tuition and books.

CHED Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES)

The Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) is part of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (RA 10931). It assists eligible students in CHED-recognized higher education institutions by covering part of their tuition and related expenses.

CHED E-Study Now Pay Later Plan (E-SNPLP)

The Study Now Pay Later Plan (SNPLP) is a CHED initiative to assist eligible Filipino students in continuing their education despite financial challenges.

CHED Coconut Farmers and their Families (COSCHO)

The CHED-COSCHO scholarship aims to enhance agricultural productivity and modernization in the coconut industry. It educates farmers and their dependents in agricultural technology, motivating the younger generation to engage in the agriculture sector.

CHED Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program (MSRSP)

The MSRs program is for Filipino students willing to commit to mandatory return service. Priority is given to those from underserved areas, low-income municipalities, indigenous communities, and families earning less than Php450,000 annually.

CHED ACEF Grant-In-Aid Program for Higher Education (GIAHEP)

The Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) GIAHEP offers financial assistance to students pursuing degrees in agriculture, fisheries, and other related fields. This program aims to boost the agricultural sector by supporting the education of future agricultural professionals.

CHED Scholarship for Future Statisticians (Estatistikolar) 2024-2025

CHED Estatistikolar is a government scholarship program aimed at addressing the shortage of statisticians in the Philippines. It is available to third-year or fourth-year students enrolled in Statistics programs.

CHED Scholarships for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP)

CHED Scholarship for Children and Dependents of Sugarcane Industry Workers and Small Sugarcane Farmers

Application Process

Ready to apply for a CHED scholarship? Follow these steps to ensure a smooth application process.

Step 1: Determine Eligibility

  • Review the specific scholarship program to ensure you meet the qualifications and requirements.

Step 2: Prepare Required Documents

  • Gather the following:
    • Completed application form
    • Certified true copy of your latest report card or transcript
    • Certified true copy of your birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)

Step 4: Submit Your Application

  • Depending on the program, you may need to:
    • Submit Online: Follow the instructions on the CHED Online Application website or program-specific portal to upload your documents and submit your application online.
    • Submit via Email: Email your completed form and supporting documents to the designated email address provided by the CHED Regional Office or scholarship program.
    • Submit in Person: Deliver your application and documents to the nearest CHED Regional Office, the office specified in the application instructions, or directly to the accredited higher education institution (HEI) if required.

Step 5: Wait for Results

  • CHED will review your application and notify you of the outcome. Via Email, Contact Number or via their official Facebook page as well as your CHED Regional Office.

Step 6: Follow Up

  • If needed, follow up with CHED for additional information or updates on your application status.
