Applicants for the ADB Japan Scholarship must meet specific criteria.
- Citizenship:
- Must be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member or a Japanese Official Development Assistance eligible country.
- Admission:
- Must have gained admission to an approved course at one of the 29 designated institutions.
- Academic Background:
- A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a superior academic record.
- Professional Experience:
- At least 2 years of full-time professional work experience acquired after obtaining a university degree at the time of application.
- Age Limit:
- Not more than 35 years old for general applicants.
- Up to 45 years old for programs suitable for senior officials and managers.
- Health:
- Must be in good health.
- Return Requirement:
- Must agree to return to their home country after completing the studies.
- Ineligibility:
- Executive directors, alternate directors, management, staff of ADB, consultants, and their close relatives are not eligible.
- Staff of ADB–JSP partner institutions are also not eligible.
- Applicants residing or working in a country other than their home country are not eligible.
- The program does not support applicants who are already enrolled in graduate degree programs.
