MEXT Teacher Training Scholarship of Japan offers scholarships to international teachers who wish to conduct research on school education at one of several Japanese universities.

Qualifications:

To apply for the Mext Teacher Training Scholarship, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Nationality: Must be a citizen of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan (e.g., Filipino).
  2. Age: Born on or after April 2, 1989.
  3. Teaching Experience: At least five (5) years of teaching experience in primary or secondary schools as of October 1, 2024.
  4. Current Employment: Currently employed as a teacher in an elementary or secondary school.
  5. Cultural Interest: Interested in and willing to learn about Japanese culture.

Benefits:

Grantees will receive benefits to support their studies in Japan, funded by MEXT.

  • Allowance: 143,000 yen per month, with an additional 2,000 or 3,000 yen for those in designated regions.
