Qualifications:

The qualifications for the Fulbright US-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program are as follows:

1. Must be a citizen of the Philippines and residing in the country during the application and selection process.
2. Eligible applicants include university faculty, government officials, and professionals from private firms, think tanks, and NGOs, focusing on U.S.-ASEAN issues.
3. Must have a proven track record of significant scholarly or professional achievements.
4. Proficiency in English is required.
5. Must be capable of conducting advanced research or university lecturing in the United States, with activities starting between January 2026 and March 2026.
6. Applicants should be in good health, suitable for pursuing research work in the United States.
7. Commitment to returning to the Philippines immediately upon completion of the program is mandatory.

Notes:

• Ineligibility criteria apply to individuals with dual citizenship, permanent residency, or current residence in the United States. This includes applicants currently in the U.S. for study, teaching, research, or work, and those who have received a Fulbright grant within the past five years.
• Individuals who have been J-1 Exchange Visitors in the Professor or Research Scholar category in the U.S. within the past two years are also ineligible to apply.

Benefits:

The Fulbright US-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program offers the following benefits to applicants:

• A monthly stipend ranging between US $2,710 and $3,145, depending on the U.S. city.
• A direct-flight, round-trip economy-class air ticket.
• A one-time $1,250 Professional and Settling-in allowance.
• Qualifying university lab and research fees up to $3,000, as needed.

• Completed online application at https://apply.iie.org/fvsp2025.
• Select/Change award to Fulbright U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program on the Award Information section found on the Country Information tab.
• Updated Curriculum Vitae/Résumé (maximum of 6 pages).
• Project Proposal: A detailed statement outlining the proposed research or lecturing activities at a U.S. institution (3 to 5 pages).
• Writing Samples: Up to 20 pages along with a Bibliography (recommended).
• Letter of Invitation from the U.S. Host Institution (strongly preferred but not required).
• Three (3) Letters of Recommendation (Forms are available on the online application portal).
• NBI Clearance secured not earlier than six (6) months before the application.
• Scanned copy of official or certified true copy of Transcript of Records.
• Scanned copy of official or certified true copy of Diploma/s.
